Janis Clapoff, Managing Director
Overseeing all aspects of the management and operation of our 308-room property, Ms. Clapoff has more than three decades of hospitality management experience. She most recently served as General Manager of Halekulani in Honolulu, Hawaii and Managing Partner of the Simpson House Inn in Santa Barbara, California. She has also served as Managing Partner of San Ysidro Ranch and Hotel Manager of the Four Seasons Biltmore, both located in Santa Barbara, California. Ms. Clapoff holds a Masters Degree from Antioch University, Santa Barbara and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from York University in Toronto, Canada.
Peter Bowen, Director of Marketing
Mr. Bowen has had extensive experience in the hospitality industry. He has been working in various capacities for the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa for over 13 years. He was formerly the Director of Guest Services at the Ilhilani Resort and Spa in Hawaii as well as working for over seven years for Rockresorts, Inc. Mr. Bowen studied business and philosophy at Ithaca College in New York.
Gloria Williams-Ah Sam, Spa Director
Mrs. Williams-Ah Sam has over three decades of experience in the hospitality industry. She most recently served as Spa Director at the luxurious Halekulani Hotel in Honolulu, Hawaii. She has also served as Spa Manager at the Abhasa Waikiki Spa and as Spa Director at the Malama Salon and Spa, both located in Hawaii. Mrs. Williams-Ah Sam holds a Bachelor degree from the University of Kansas.
Luc Akellino, Director of Food & Beverage
Mr. Akellino is the Director of Food & Beverage for Ojai Valley Inn & Spa and has a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry. Most recently, he served as the Corporate Vice President of Food & Beverage at Cannery Casino Resorts in Las Vegas, Nevada. Prior to this, Mr. Akellino was the Executive Director of Food & Beverage at the Rio Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. He has also worked with Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas and The Peninsula in Beverly Hills, California. Mr. Akellino graduated from Cornell University, School of Hotel Administration.
Ted Seaman, Chief Financial Officer
Serving as the financial backbone to Ojai Valley Inn & Spa, Mr. Seaman has nearly forty years experience working with finance in the hospitality industry. He most recently served as the Controller at Auberge Du Soleil Resort & Spa in Rutherford, CA. Before being promoted to Controller, Mr. Seaman was Director of Accounting and Finance at Auberge Resorts. He was also a Consultant for Western Hospitality Management Services and the Controller at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco. Mr. Seaman holds a Bachelor of Accounting degree from Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster, MA.
