One of the greatest pleasures in golf is seeing real improvement in one's game. The goal of the Golf Academy at the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa is to help you achieve lasting improvement so that you can enjoy this great game even more.
We believe that learning occurs best with hands-on, personal attention. Each academy session is limited to just 4 students. Our instructors have extensive experience with all levels of golfers, from beginners to top collegiate and touring professionals. Swing fundamentals, scoring course management, and developing a positive mental approach are all part of our two-day schools.
The Academy is available year-round, offering weekday and weekend sessions. Each session includes on-course instruction each day including cart, range balls, OVI logo shirt and hat, school materials and accommodations.
Daily Golf Clinics
Clinics are $10 per person and require a two hour advance registration. Class size may be limited.

Individual and Small Group Golf Instruction
Full Day or Half-Day “ZEN GOLF Experience”
Hourly Lessons – Practice Area, On-Course, and/or Phone Consultations
“ZEN GOLF Experience” (at the Ojai Valley Inn or your own event venue)
Components:
- Zen Golf Mental Game Seminar (meeting room venue)
- Routine and Practice Principles (instruction, exercises, and drills in practice areas for putting, short game, and full swing)
- Application in Play (on-course instruction)
Large Group Golf Instruction Programs
Components:
- Zen Golf Mental Game Seminar (meeting room venue)
- Putting Clinic (with some individual instruction as time allows – on practice green)
- Range Clinic For Pre- and Post-Shot Routines (full swing, specialty shots, swing keys – at practice range and/or short game area)
- On-Course Tips (number of holes played by Dr. Parent with golfers depends on size of group: 12-16 golfers, three holes per foursome; 20-28 golfers, two holes per foursome; 32-48 golfers, one hole per foursome; for larger groups, Dr. Parent plays with selected VIP foursomes)
Note: These components can be used in various combinations depending on event requirements and time frame of program. A short program may include a one-hour seminar over breakfast, lunch or cocktails, with putting or range clinic afterward. A two-day program may include all components.
Presentation Opportunities for Business
Conferences, Meetings, In-house Training Programs:
Keynote Speaker – large group speeches; 45-90 minutes. Topics include “Bounce
Back,” “Riding the Waves,” and “At the Top of Your Game” – ideal messages for challenging times. Also applicable as dinner or luncheon speeches.
In-house Training Seminars – for staff and/or management. Small group interactive
training and discussion; from 90 minutes to full day, as well as ongoing weekly or monthly progressive programs.
Panel Participant – Comments and responses to questions and/or moderator’s topics.
Breakout/Workshop Leader – small group presentations with extensive discussion.
Special Guest at VIP Dinner or Luncheon – opportunity for personal small group discussions at pre-conference dinners or planning sessions.
Corporate Golf Events, Outings:
Corporate Hospitality at Professional Golf Tournaments Short presentations and mixing with clients at corporate village; autographing books as client gifts; walking the course with VIP client groups and providing insights about the pros’ games – how they think their way around the course.
Hosting Client or Staff Appreciation Outings Presentation: At the Top of Your Game in Golf and Business Putting Green Clinic and/or Practice Range Clinic VIP individual instruction as time allows. On-Course Golf Tips – playing 2-3 holes with each foursome, or several holes with selected VIPs for large groups. Speaker or Emcee at pre- and post-event cocktail parties and dinners.
